Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion
Playtime: 27.8 Hours
This is is a brilliant game.
Is it to the same quality as Final Fantasy VII Intergrade? No, the game clearly had a smaller budget for it. The game is much much shorter, and pads out game time by adding in 300 missions that feel very similar to each other. What this game does have is a brilliant story and a fun combat system with a brilliant soundtrack to smooth it out.
I did play with one mod, one that changes the voices to their original voice actors from the PSP, and I do think that you should do the same for the best experience. I played a bit of the original, and I hated some of the new voices as soon as I heard them!
Admittedly, I really don't think this game should have came out when it did. It would have made much more sense for the game to come out after the Final Fantasy VII Remakes were finished. I have played the original Final Fantasy VII, so I understand what is actually happening and why it's happening but people that play this directly after playing Intergrade are spoiling themselves on some serious plot points!
The game can be completed in about 10 or so hours if you are focusing only on the story. I bet the game in 28 hours 100%'ing it. It's very short for a final fantasy game, but doesn't play like the usual turn based Final Fantasy.
Zack Fair, the main character, is the highlight of this game. He's a golden retriever in human form and you really come to like the character. He's probably my favorite Final Fantasy VII character. He's a very cheerful but naive character and you very easily feel the same emotions he does. The betrayal, the turmoil, the feeling of being on the run, all paired with a fantastic soundtrack.
For people that played the original Final Fantasy VII, I wholeheartedly recommend this game. It's short, but it has a fantastic story that you can only fully appreciate knowing the full context. But I implore you, please use a mod that changes the voices to the original Voice Actors. It can really change your experience while playing this game.
Definitely buy this one. It's worth it!
